Satan

In the Conventional Hebrew, the meaning of the Name Satan is clearly meant to warn us that this Fallen Cherub (who was once given a place of prominence in the Kingdom of God as the Cherub that covered the very throne of Most High) has become the very enemy of mankind. The conventional Hebrew declares that the name of Satan literally can be translated as the Adversary.

Although the first encounter we see with Satan is in the garden, the first time the name of Satan shows up in the ancient prophetic text we call the Old Testament is in I Chronicles 21:1. There we read the following:

And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.

Most of you know this story and are familiar with the tragic consequences this Satanic Provocation had on both King David and all of Israel. Although this is the first mention of Satan in the Ancient Prophetic text, it is probably not the earliest mention of Satan. Chronologically, the book of Job predates the Book of Chronicles and contains the most comprehensive view of the character of Satan.  The book of Job mentions Satan more times than any other book of the bible.

Let us recall that converstion that is recounted in the first chapter of Job:

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.

And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou?

Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand.

So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.

Now, if you've read the story, you know that Satan went out, and caused Job's livestock (oxen, sheep, cmels, etc.) and his children to perish. Job fell on his face before the LORD and worshipped in all of this, and uttered those famous words, "Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord."

The bible tells us that, in all of this tragedy, Job did not sin, nor did he "charge God foolishly."

So Satan, is indeed our adversary–the enemy of our souls. What does the Hebrew declare about our adversary?

There an additional testimony regarding Satan hidden in the Pictures that are embedded in the THREE HEBREW LETTERS that compose the name of Satan.

The Hebrew Spelling of Satan is SHEEN TET NOON

The next Hebrew Letter in the name of Satan is the letter TET.

The final letter in the name of Satan is the Hebrew Letter Noon.

Noon is pictured as a Fish and signifies activity and Life/

So the Picture language of Hebrew Word discloses that Satan can be translated as follows:

The Serpent that Surrounds and Ensnares us in order to devour and destroy our Life.

The Picture hidden just underneath the three letters in the name of Satan agrees with the testimony of JESUS who in John 10:10 compared Satan to the thief that comes to steal and to kill and to destroy.  JESUS THE CHRIST is come that we might have life and that we might have it more abundantly.

Consider the warning of Peter the Fisherman and follower of the Yeshua as recorded in 1 Peter 5:8

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour

I have tried other lessons and would be so confused by the end of my reading. The simplicity of the lessons ( I read 3) was present in every sentence that I read. It was amazing that my eyes were opened to comprehend what I was reading. Anointed! I am Praising God for leading me this morning to finding your site.

I just read this morning in a book by Rabbi Jonathan called The Book of Mysteries, about The Serpent’s Blood. Serpents are cold blooded. Humans are warm blooded. Basically we as worm blooded can out run , out last, out maneuver, out live any cold blooded ” attack” we just keep on going, Truth, triumphs, Good triumphs! evil and everything twisted, only endures for a short time. We do have the victory! We win!!! In the final outcome!! Satan IS defeated!!

  11. Thank you. So glad I stumbled onto this on Facebook. It gives much light to a vision I had. The church was full. The individuals were all in their personaly designated seats. I saw each one pulling a comforter up over themselves. Then one by one, a black snake came under the comforter and wrapped around each ones left arm. The Lord led me to do a study on fire. Peter’s fire and Paul’s fire show a great contrast.

  13. Rick Hurst says:

Having recently served with a national organization to conduct a medical clinic in Hosanna Ethiopia, I was one of the volunteers that went to pray with the peoples. On one event while myself and four others were praying for a young man to regain hearing in his left ear, I saw a large set of hideous sharp teeth attack me. It did no harm as I continued to pray for Yeshua’s protection and the deliverance of the young man. Once this entity had passed by me, the young mans hearing was restored. The Hebrew word for Satan, starting with Sheen, has now confirmed that what I saw was very real and that Satan is still in the business of “devouring” people. Thank you for your work and I wish to gain more understanding of Hebrew word study. What ever you can provide or direct me I would appreciate.
