Spirit – The Hebrew Picture and Number Meaning

(11 Ratings)

What is more real: our “corporeal man” or our “spirit man”? God is a Spirit and does not have a body like man.  Is God less “real” than His material creation? Without the Spirit of God would we even have the Heaven and the Earth?

Let’s see what the Scriptures teach.  Notice the first mention of the Spirit of God in the Ancient Prophetic Text.

Genesis 1:1-2 (KJV)

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Genesis 1: 1-2 Literal Hebrew

And the earth she became chaos and vacancy and darkness over surfaces of abyss and Spirit of Elohim vibrating over surfaces of the waters.

Messianic Meaning of SPIRIT of God

The HOLY SPIRIT is the SUPERNATURAL PRINCE that awakens us to the work done by the Son of God who was SECURED with an IRON NAIL to the Cross of Calvary in order that we might look upon Him and put our confidence in the only Savior who desires to take us to HEAVEN, the place He has prepared for us.

John 16:13

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Numeric Meaning of SPIRIT of God

The number 200 is a two sided coin with a double meaning. On the one hand, it is the number used in Scripture to point out insufficiency. On the other hand and by contrast it is the number found in Scripture to point out the Complete Sufficiency of God.

So the number can refer to complete Sufficiency or Total Insufficiency.  Evil Spirit would be Insufficient to provide Sanctuary and Protection for sinful man. Only God’s Spirit is Totally Sufficient and able to accomplish what no other creature (men, angels, and spirits) or creation of the Triune God can accomplish.
